Light Speed Ahead

from Light Speed Ahead by Mike Dragon

lyrics

A fortress sways, weathered by the rain,
colored walls in caves prophesied the date,
so who are we to weep as the corridors crumble at our feet?
ample sirens and signals beckoned us to leave.

Light speed ahead, let the dying grieve the dead,
tired eyes don't see subtle ways that heart deceives,
so typical to weep as the turning tides bring letter from the sea,
push through, past you, the rearview's a fleeting memory now.

Strewn along the shore, tattered strands of hope,
still in vain I'd cling,
and on highest canopy, the joyous light of dreams waited patiently,
such a sweet surprise.

A fortress sways, stubborn stains washed away,
tired eyes relieved, quickened by a hope believed,
sense of self decays as others' needs are placed first today,
a higher age to be, with ears to hear what's calling me.

Light speed ahead, with higher eyes to see the way,
light speed ahead, a humble heart to hear the way,
light speed ahead, steady mind to steer the way,
just to see the day, just to see the day,
light speed ahead...
